Photo Agency stamp affixed to verso.Gardner was born July 22, 1940 in Albany, NY.He received his BA in Anthropology from the University of Missouri in 1965.He is a well-traveled photojournalist, who has had many one-man exhibits, and still travels a great deal by motorcycle. He received the 1980-81 New York State Creative Artists Public Service (CAPS) Fellowship. His book of photographs, America Illustrated, was published in 1982.His work is included in the collections of ATT, Inc., NYC, the Art Institute of Chicago, the International Center of Photography, the New York Museum of Modern Art, the New York Metropolitan Museum, Amon Carter Museum of American Art and the National Museum of Art in Washington, DC, among others.
