Van Ham Holds Photography Auction This Week in Cologne

Van Ham's 232nd auction, which will focus on "Photography" will be held next Friday, May, 14 at 6.00 pm. The preview will take place from May 7-14. The auction can be viewed online at: http://www.van-ham.com/auktion/A232/auktion/000224/katalog_gb.html .

The photography auction contains more than 300 works of photography from the 19th through the 21st century.

One of the most prominent lots is a portrait of the painter Gustav Klimt, an original print taken by the Austrian photographer Moritz Nähr. A portfolio of Lucia Moholy includes 232 unique contact prints from 1932 and may possibly have been the draft for a book that has not been realized.

Beside important examples of American photography of the 1920s-40s, the auction features images by international well known German photographers, such as August Sander, Alfred Renger-Patzsch, Candida Höfer and Bernd und Hilla Becher.
