DESCRIPTION:

Charming early morning image of a pretty mother holding her baby and talking to her young daughter. The latter casts a curious sideglance toward the photographer. They wear Dutch-style caps and wooden clogs. A small harbor inlet is behind them. Small tear in left lower margin, easily repaired. Fréchon worked in the Pas de Calais area of France and in Algeria, producing lyrical studies of French country life at the turn of the century and regularly appeared in the British Country Life. Almost a direct French counterpart of P.H. Emerson, but one who had to earn his living by his photography. Shipping and insurance costs will be added to the price and must be paid for by the buyer. Pennsylvania buyers must pay appropriate local sales tax. International clients are responsible for their VAT and other custom's oriented charges.
