Boulat was born June 3, 1924 in the small village of Saint-Marne and began his career at the Paris magazine Samedi Soir in 1945. His photograph of a tornado over Paris was published in Life in 1953 where he later worked under contract from 1956 until 1972. He died January 11, 1998.
