Don Worth (1924-2024) was a Nebraska-born photographer and musician who studied at Juilliard and Manhattan School of Music before working with Ansel Adams from 1956-1960 and teaching photography at San Francisco State University.
During Worth’s six-decade artistic career, he attained an international reputation as an outstanding image maker and master printer. In 1974 he was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship to chronicle the American landscape and in 1980 he received a National Endowment for the Arts Photography Fellowship. In 1973 the San Francisco Museum of Art organized a mid-career monographic traveling exhibition that featured 150 photographs, accompanied by an illustrated catalogue. More recently Photography West Graphics published Close to Infinity, which features 66 of Worth’s plant and landscape views.
Worth's photographs are held in prestigious museums worldwide, reflecting his successful career spanning over 100 exhibitions.
