Titled, photographer and publisher information printed on mount recto. A lovely print.Little is known of A. Taupin, but he did form Taupin & Co., which appears on some of his stamps. Taupin appears to have been active in Paris from at least the end of the 1850s through the beginning of the 1880s, opening three studio locations over this time.He was known primarily for romantic landscapes, like this one, and art reproductions, and may have been a publisher, as well as a photographer. In 1863, Taupin and other photographers were the subject of legal action brought by Disderi over the use of his published portraits. There was also a daguerreotypist of the same last name in Paris in the late 1840s, but it is uncertain if this is the same photographer.
