Provenance: Estate of Photographer Dr. John Murray, father of Johannes Owen; Sotheby's London 1999.Famous in his own right, the Rev. John Owen Farquhar Murray (May 6, 1858-November 29, 1944) was an Anglican clergyman and scholar, as well as the son of noted photographer and doctor, Dr. John Murray. Murray was also Fellow and Dean of Emmanuel College, Warden of St. Augustine’s College, Canterbury, and Master of Selwyn College, Cambridge from 1909 to 1928. He also wrote "The Cambridge companion to the Bible", Cambridge University Press, 1892. This gold medal was given to him at Trinity College.
