Initials RA stamped in bottom right corner of the mount recto. A very rich print in fine condition. This was one of a group of studies that was used for Hill's painting "Edinburgh from the Castle, 1847".See: Alex Novak, For the Love of the Image: A Selection of 110 Photographs, p.1, fig.4; and Sara Stevenson, David Octavius and Robert Adamson (National Galleries of Scotland, Edinburgh, 1981), p.86 for slight variants of this image.
