According to relatives, his favorite paintings were landscapes, especially of "water landscapes" from the terrace of his villa on the Costa Brava (in Spain). He was a member of the Association Belge de Photographe & de Cinematographie, and his photos appeared in many of that association's bulletins.Dekais fought during WWII against the Nazis and received a medal after the war.
