About This Image

Signed, numbered (2/2) recto on mount in pencil; original artist two-color mount. Rare 1948 print on special gold/green paper. Size noted is the actual image size and doesn't include the paper borders.

Originally created in 1929, lithograph on paper, later printed in December 1948 in a limited edition by Copley Galleries in Beverly Hills, CA as part of the exhibition publication: "To Be Continued Unnoticed: Some Papers", in an edition of 125 signed and edition noted in red pencil.

Two prints (of which this is one) were realized in a special edition on a gold-green patterned paper and sprayed with red dots. The print is mounted on two gray papers and a very thick cardboard, which has orange linen on the back.

This was one of Man Ray's most important exhibitions in the USA. The Copley Galleries operated in Beverly Hills for only a short time, from 1948-49.

Provenance: Artist's Estate, Paris, 1970s; German private collection; Galerie Johannes Faber.
