A particularly lovely image with the architectural details. Terris is a very important photographer in the ranks with Baldus, Marville and Le Gray, but he worked in Marseilles and not Paris. He documented the modernization and restoration of Marseilles in the 1860s. H. Revoil was the creator of the pieces and his name appears in ink below the image, as well as a stamp (Nouvelle Cathedrale de Marseille, Bureau). The lighter area in the upper background is a result of unevenness in the wetplate collodion, lending the print an interesting photographic reference.
