The Four Sergents (Boris, Goubin, Pommier and Raoulx) were guillotinized in Paris in 1822. Their great courage initiated a liberal campaign and they became legendary. They became symbols of the anti-monarchist feelings of the French people. The photographer's stamp, negative number (70482) and title in blue pencil are on the verso of the print.
