Signed on verso in ink and editioned 1/30. Framed in contemporary frame.Frank Gohlke (born April 3, 1942) is an American landscape photographer. Gohlke was raised in Wichita Falls, Texas. He attended Davidson College in North Carolina then transferred to the University of Texas at Austin. He received his Masters in English Literature at Yale University and met and was influenced by Walker Evans, who was a Yale professor at the time. Later he studied with landscape photographer, Paul Caponigro.His coverage over a period of time of the Mount St. Helens eruption aftermath led to an exhibition in 2004 at the Museum of Modern Art in New York organized by Peter Galassi and John Szarkowski.Gohlke has taught photography at Middlebury College; Colorado College; the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the Massachusetts College of Art; and at Harvard, Princeton, and Yale Universities. In 2007, Gohlke accepted a teaching position at the University of Arizona College of Fine Arts in Tucson, Arizona, where he now lives and works.
