This image gives an intimate view of Smith engaged in photographing Jitsuko-chan, a young Minamata victim who could no longer walk or talk. Smith had a close relationship with this girl, and you can see that from this image. This print is accompanied by Smith's photograph of Jitsuko-chan, which was used in Life Magazine on June 2, 1972, p. 76.
