Contemporary Works/Vintage Works would like to share a rare opportunity to experience the full creative arc of designer and image-maker Dan Marcolina, whose work has continuously evolved across 45 years of visual experimentation.
This show marks the first time all four phases of Dan Marcolina’s groundbreaking career are being presented together—tracing his evolution from darkroom experimentation to data-driven image-making. With dozens of interactive works enhanced by augmented reality, the exhibition goes far beyond a traditional photo show, offering a fully immersive visual experience.
This exhibition reflects Dan Marcolina's 35-year journey in digital image creation, from commercial and fine art photography to mixed reality images. By blending AI with traditional digital techniques he reimagines photography, resulting in distinctive and thought-provoking visual juxtapositions.
His collection of work is called "Diffused Reality", which most recently was exhibited at the AIPAD Show in NYC this past April through representation by Alex Novak and Contemporary Works/Vintage Works. In addition to his creative practice, Marcolina lectures widely on AI and visual innovation for Adobe, National Geographic, and leading universities.
Visitors can engage with the images through their phones to unlock additional layers of story, animation, and mystery. Marcolina will also delve into his insights and interactions with AI during an artist talk.
The exhibition will be on display at the Blue Bell Campus, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell, PA 19422 in two campus locations:
Tuesday, Aug. 26–Saturday, Oct. 4: Montco Cultural Center Fine Arts Center Gallery.
Tuesday, Oct. 7–Saturday, Nov. 8: Montco Cultural Center Theater Gallery in the Science Center.
Visitors are welcome to attend an opening reception at the Montco Cultural Center Fine Arts Center Gallery on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 5-7 pm.
