The International Center of Photography (ICP) is closing its midtown museum location when its lease from the Durst Organization comes to an end in January 2015. It is currently looking for a new space. Founded in 1974, the ICP has been in its current location since the 1980s. The ICP School, which is across the street from the museum, at 1114 Avenue of the Americas, will remain in its location.
ICP's current home won't be available as of January 2015
According to a statement issued by the museum: "The International Center of Photography has chosen to move from our current museum site in January 2015 in order to develop a space that reflects our vision and the explosive growth of visual communications."
ICP has also announced the winners of the 2014 Infinity Awards, which will be presented on April 28.
Jürgen Schadeberg, a German-born South African photographer, curator, editor, and teacher known for his depictions of Apartheid, particularly his iconic images of Neslon Mandela, will be presented with the Cornell Capa Lifetime Achievement Award.
James Welling is the award-winner for fine art, Steven Klein for fashion, Stephanie Sinclair and Jessica Dimmock, photographers represented by the VII Photo Agency, are sharing the award for photojournalism for their project "Too Young To Wed," about child marriage. Adam Broomberg and Oliver Chanarin are the winners in the publication category, for their book Holy Bible. And Samuel James is the winner for young photographer.
